Saginaw City Council Elects Brenda Moore as Mayor and Welcomes Three new Members.

With eight unanimous votes, The Saginaw City Council has selected former Mayor Pro-Tem Brenda Moore as the new mayor of Saginaw. Moore has been a part of city council since 2013 and is a life-long resident of the city of Saginaw. Moore was recommended by Council member Annie Boensch. Reggie Williams was recommended, but did not accept his recommendation.

City council also selected councilman Michael Balls as Saginaw’s Mayor Pro-Tem. In 2012, Councilman Balls received the Big Brother Of the Year Award from the Saginaw County Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Great Lakes Bay Region. Balls has also been a part of city council since 2013.

Saginaw City Council also welcomed three new members at their last meeting. Michael Flores, Monique Lamar-Silvia and George Copeland Jr. were sworn into council after all three received more than 4,900 votes each. The three newcomers join newly elected Mayor Brenda Moore and Mayor Pro-tem Michael Balls. They also join Council-members Autumn Scherzer, Reggie Williams, Bill Ostash and Annie Boensch.

Incumbents Jamie Forbes and John Milne did not receive enough votes for re-election. Former Mayor, Floyd Kloc, retired after being the City’s mayor for two years.
