Saginaw Begins Home Rehab Review Process

The City of Saginaw has finished receiving applications for furnace improvements as part of the American Rescue Plan Act Home Rehab Program.

Around 430 applications were submitted between December 3rd and 10th to receive a new furnace this winter. City Manager Tim Morales says that the next step is a review by city staff. He says once that review process is done, the city will send inspectors to applicants’ homes and prioritize installations based on need.

The city is also looking into partnerships with other organizations and companies including Consumers Energy. Furnaces are only the first phase of the $3.8 million Home Rehab Program. Once it is complete, the city will begin the same process for roofs, and later intends to do window repair and replacement.
