State House Republicans are still pushing for their alternative to Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s plan to raise the gas to finance more state wide road repairs.

Representative Jack O’Malley of Lake Ann in northwest Michigan, who chairs the House Transportation Committee, suggests counties need more flexibility to finance primary and secondary road  projects as they see fit so long as they have their own asset mapping plan.

He spoke during a road financing town hall in  Saginaw Township Monday, July 22.
