Reward Offered for Information on Huron County Homicide

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to those responsible for the death of 59-year-old Ricky Bailey of Bad Axe. Huron County Sheriff’s Deputies found Bailey dead in his home at 2374 Rapson Rd. in Huron County’s Verona Township on the night of December 30. He had been shot twice, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson said Bailey lived with his 11 and 20-year-old sons, who called 911 after the shooting. They told investigators two armed men came into the home dressed in all black with ski masks over their faces. They said the suspects forced Bailey to the floor and were yelling at him about wanting “the money.” Hanson said Bailey was then further physically assaulted by one of the assailants while the youngest son attempted to lock himself in a bathroom. Hanson said one of the assailants kicked in the bathroom door and escorted the boy to another room, telling him to lay on the floor. During this time, Hanson said the 20-year-old had taken cover in another room. He said the assailants then left,  which enabled the two sons to call for help. Hanson said the incident took place over a matter of minutes.
