Republican Candidate for State Senate 35th District Quits League of Women Voters Forum

One of the four Republican candidates running for the 35th District State Senate nomination in the August primary has pulled out of a League of Women Voters candidate forum scheduled for Monday, July 11.

Tim Kelly says he’s decided not to attend because he objects to the League of Women voters partnering with the organization “Voters not Politicians” in collecting signatures for “Promote the Vote 2022.” Kelly said the petition is to codify election reforms that have failed at the federal level and are championed by Democrats. Kelly said he hoped other the candidates would follow suit and not attend.

The candidate forum will be broadcast live from the MCTV studios in Midland at 7 p-m.
