Police Investigating Death at Midland County Jail

State police and the Midland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of an inmate.

Sheriff Myron Greene says the 56-year-old man had been held in the Midland County Jail on larceny charges for several days, and was found unresponsive in his cell around 4:45 Saturday afternoon. According to investigators, the man had apparently fashioned an item within his cell to strangle himself. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been conducted and authorities are awaiting results.
