Police in Gladwin County Arrest Homicide Suspect

Police in Gladwin County are investigating a homicide that occurred over the weekend.
Police responded to a home in Grout Township on Saturday around 12:45 A.M. to find a 53-year-old man, identified as Terry Lee Verhelle of Gladwin, waiting in front of the residence. The victim, a 59-year-old man, was inside the home with a single gunshot wound to his chest area. Emergency personnel attempted life saving measures and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Verhelle was arrested and charged with Homicide-manslaughter, felony firearm and possession of a firearm while under the influence. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
