Police Identify Suspect In Bay City Shooting
A man with a criminal history was arrested Saturday for allegedly shooting another man in Bay City.
Police responded to the parking lot behind Duso’s Bar at 604 E. Midland St. around 1:45 a.m. and discovered the 37-year-old victim, who had been shot in the abdomen. Some onlookers were attempting to stop the bleeding and keep the man awake until first responders arrived. The man was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery.
Police say the suspect, 38-year-old Johnny McKinley, Jr., had fled the area and was later located and arrested by police in Saginaw. McKinley is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, assault with a dangerous weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and four counts of second-offense felony firearm.
McKinley was convicted of felonious assault and gun charges in 2011, and police say he is currently on probation out of Saginaw County for being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. He’s currently being held on a $75,000 bond.
