Pinconning Gas Station Fire May Have Been Intentionally Set
A fire at a Pinconning gas station on Tuesday, February 9 may have been deliberately started.
The fire occurred at the Marathon gas station at 511 S. Marble St. before 8:00 p.m. Police and firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building. A fire was found in a back room which was put out. However, investigators say two fires had occurred in the building, which appeared to have been intentionally started.
A 40-year-old male employee was working at the time and there were customers inside the building. Investigators say the employee may be responsible for setting the fires. He was not injured but was taken to McLaren Bay Region for a mental health evaluation. Police say one customer may have grabbed a fire extinguisher to try putting the fire out.
Police are asking anyone with more information about the incident to call (989) 895-4050.
