Park Improvement Grants Recommended by Governor Whitmer

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources have announced they recommended 13 community parks, trails and sports facilities, plus a state lock and dam to receive more than $7.4 million in Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants.

The funding will support boardwalk, trail and park renovations and improvements, park pavilion and restroom development, lock and dam public water access and more. Local improvements include Pondside Park improvements in Bay County, receiving $375,000.

Other projects are located in Alpena, Cass, Cheboygan, Ionia, Ingham, Kalamazoo, Livingston, Marquette, Montcalm and Ottawa counties.
