One Dead, Three Injured In Saginaw County Crash

Alcohol may be a factor in a deadly crash on Saturday in Birch Run Township.

Around 5:15 P.M., police responded to East Birch Run Road and Block Road for a three vehicle crash. Police say a 21-year-old Millington woman, identified as Alexis Rietz, was killed when an oncoming car struck hers head on. The crash began when a 31-year-old Millington woman driving a Nissan Rogue heading west on Birch Run Road crossed the center line, first sideswiping a Chevy Equinox driven by a 75-year-old Clio man, before crashing into a Chevy Malibu driven by Rietz. Rietz and two passengers in the Malibu were taken to Hurley Medical Center in Flint, where Rietz died of her injuries. The passengers suffered serious injuries. The Clio man was not hurt in the crash. The Rogue driver also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw.

The crash remains under investigation.
