Northwood University, Representing Team USA, Takes Top Spot at World eSport Competition

The Northwood University Timberwolves eSports team are the world champions after dominating a field of dozens of other teams from around the world last Friday in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Competing in the Red Bull Campus Clutch World Championship in a game called Valorant and representing Team USA after defeating colleges and universities from across the US in November, the Northwood team began the competition December 13, quickly dominating the field as they swept into the quarterfinals, and then the semifinals on Friday.

Team USA first defeated Team Macedonia, while Team Canada took down Team Poland, resulting in an all North America final match. While the match was hard fought, the Northwood team came out on top, winning three sets to Team Canada’s one.

The Northwood team took home the trophy and 20,000 euros. They also get to attend as VIPs at a 2023 Valorant tournament event.
