Separate fires were reported in Bay and Saginaw counties Sunday, June 30.

The Bay City Department of Public Safety, assisted by Bangor and Portsmouth townships, responded to a fire at a single story family home around 8:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Franklin Rd. Smoke from the fire could be seen from as far away as eight blocks. The rear of the home and an unattached garage sustained damage in the fire, which remains under investigation.

The second fire occurred in the 100 block of Frank Road in Frankenmuth around 7:20 p.m. Smoke could be see coming from the roof and eaves of the single story ranch home. Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the garage, though the home sustained some smoke damage. There were also no injuries. Crews were on the scene about two hours and were assisted by the Birch Run Fire Department and Frankenmuth Police.
