New President Selected for Central Michigan University

Central Michigan University has announced the hiring of a new president for the school.

In a unanimous decision by the university Board of Control on Thursday, Neil MacKinnon was chosen as the president-elect, who will replace current president Bob Davies, who steps down from the position October 31. McKinnon was one of 80 initial applicants to the position, in a process that took around six months to complete.

According to the board, MacKinnon has more than 25 years of experience in higher education. He recently served at Augusta University as provost, and also held appointments in the Department of Health Management, Economics, and Policy and the Department of Population Health.
