MSU Extension Director Envisions Bringing Together People And Resources

Michigan State University Extension has a new District 9 Coordinator covering the Great Lakes Bay Region. Mark Rankin sees his role as bringing together people and resources by serving businesses, families, communities and children. That includes an extensive 4-H program.

Rankin also wants to try to make a dent in the ongoing opioid crisis by coordinating efforts involving law enforcement, health organizations and hospitals. His extensive educational background includes work as a teacher , principal, curriculum director and Superintendent at the K-12 level for various districts over the last 25 years.

Rankin has also been Dean of Education at Baker College and a turnaround specialist for failing schools. He was introduced to Bay County officials on Tuesday.
