Monitor Township Firefighter Struck In Hit and Run Crash

Police in Bay County are looking for a hit and run suspect after hitting a firefighter at the scene of a crash Monday morning.

The Monitor Township Fire Department responded to a crash on US-10 around 12:45 from slippery roads and cleared the scene without incident, according to officials. One of the department’s firefighters left the scene, heading eas over I-75 and found another vehicle off the road. They stopped to check on the condition of any occupants of the vehicle, when another vehicle lost conbtrol and struck the first vehicle. Police say a third vehicle then also lost control and struck the firefighter and then fled the scene. The firefighter was thrown several feet, suffering a broken leg, cuts and bruises.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the Bay County Sheriff’s Department.
