Midland City, County Officials Hold Signing Agreement for Corps of Engineers Study
The city of Midland, Midland County and the Midland Business Alliance have entered into a formal agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a new General Investigation (GI) study.
Over the next three years, the Corps will look at options to reduce the severity of flooding in the Midland area and determine the cost-benefit and feasibility of potential projects. In the first study, the Corps of Engineers was able to provide the county new hydrology and hydraulic data and models of the Tittabawassee River Watershed. This will help with emergency management, planning and the safety citizens, according to county commission chair Mark Bone.
Midland Mayor Maureen Donker adds significant progress can be made with the study in conjunction with Concept 5 projects and funding assistance from the state for flood reduction projects.
