Local mental health advocates are calling for the quick resumption of construction on a new Caro Center in Tuscola County.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered a pause recently to reassess the need for the project.  Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health Chief Executive Officer Christopher Pinter says keeping it right where it is now would benefit area patients.

Pinter is optimistic the governor and state lawmakers can work out differences and see the work through to completion. Pinter told the Bay County Board of Commissioners Tuesday, June 4, the opioid crisis is his agency’s biggest challenge, including keeping NARCAN kits close at hand to revive drug overdose victims.
