MDHHS Reminder on COVID-19 Testing Options

As fall approaches, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is reminding residents about available COVID-19 testing options and urging those who are sick to stay home to prevent the spread of respiratory diseases. Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, chief medical executive, encourages families to utilize free at-home COVID-19 tests available through the federal government’s COVID-19 tests website.

Residents can order up to four free tests per household via COVIDTests.gov. In addition, Michigan offers several local testing resources, including on-site testing at Neighborhood Wellness Centers and partnerships with libraries for free at-home tests. MDHHS also advises families to maintain a COVID plan that includes having tests and masks on hand, getting the updated vaccine, and consulting healthcare providers about therapeutics for those who test positive.
