McLaren Healthcare Working to Determine Extent of Cyberattack

McLaren Healthcare has been the victim of a cyberattack.

In a report Tuesday, the hospital system it experienced a disruption to its IT and telephone systems. On Wednesday, McLaren oficials confirmed the disruption was caused by a cyberattack, which prompted them to implement downtime procedures at its 13 hospitals and several outpatient clinics around the state. At this time, officials are working to determine if any patient or employee data were compromised, as well as continuing to work to restore all systems to full functionality.

In the meantime, while many patients will not have appointments rescheduled, officials are say some elective or non-emergency medical procedures, tests and treatments may be postponed. Patient’s health care teams will contact them if anything does need to be rescheduled. Patients are asked to provide lists of current medications and prescriptions, printed physician orders for imaging studies and treatments, printed results of recent lab tests and a list of allergies.
