McLaren Bay Region is announcing the opening Thursday of a new $28,000,000 medical office building in West Branch, inside the renovated 86,000 square foot former K-Mart building on M-76.

It will feature a free-standing state-of-the-art emergency center with 10 private patient rooms. That includes two trauma/resuscitation rooms equipped with telehealth capabilities. It will be open 24/7.

Phase One of the project, which has created 55 community jobs, will also offer on-site imaging services like X-Ray,  CT scanning and ultrasounds. Phase Two is to be completed later this year, adding more jobs plus specialty services. They range from cardiology, orthopedics and physical medicine to speech therapy and a 24-hour sleep center.

An open house is planned for December 2 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with a ribbon cutting scheduled for 4:30.
