Bay City Commissioners voted 7 to 1 Monday, November 4 to sustain a Mayoral veto of a proposed medical marijuana provisioning center at the former Cari’s Red Lion Restaurant on Center downtown.

Mayor Kathleen Newsham says she’s gratified that the Commission listened to residents angered by the original vote. Newsham believes a medical marijuana site would be inappropriate for the location which she thinks should remain a restaurant.

The lone vote to override the Mayor’s veto came from 8th Ward Commissioner Ed Clements who’s been a consistent supporter of medical marijuana site applications.
