Man Sentenced In Rent Payment Theft Scheme

A man accused of stealing rent payments in Bay, Midland, Oakland and Saginaw counties was sentenced to prison last Friday after he pleaded guilty to conducting a criminal enterprise.

55-year-old Juan Miguel Rodriguez-Venegas of Florida was accused of taking cash and money orders from drop boxes at mobile home parks and apartment complexes across mid and southern Michigan. He and another man, 44-year-old Rafael Rodriguez where charged by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Rodriguez-Venegas was sentenced in Midland County between two and 20 years in prison.

Sentencing for Rodriguez takes place November 12.
