Man Charged In Midland Olive Garden Shooting

A Westland man has been charged with several felonies for allegedly shooting a woman at a Midland restaurant.

Police responded to the Olive Garden at 6803 Eastman Avenue on Sunday afternoon after a 41-year-old Saginaw woman was shot in the neck. Police say the shooting stemmed from a domestic related incident. The suspect, 41-year-old Robert Monit, was arrested after allegedly resisting police. The woman is being treated at a local hospital.

Monit has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearm, aggravated domestic assault and assaulting/resisting a police officer, among others. He is also charged as an habitual offender for having a 2009 convition of second degree child abuse. His next court date is June 18. He’s being held on a $2 million dollar bond.
