Man Charged In Drunk Driving Death of Hampton Township School Worker
Charges have been filed against an Essexville man for a crash that occurred February 18 in Hampton Township.
Police say 44-year-old Kelvin Trask was drunk when he crashed into the vehicle of 52-year-old Polly Christensen, a paraprofessional at Verellen Elementary School. Christensen was backing out her driveway when the crash occurred. She was killed and her 14-year-old son seriously injured. Trask initially refused to give a blood sample to police, who obtained a search warrant to have his blood drawn. Investigators say his blood alcohol content was above the Michigan legal limit though an exact number is not available.
Trask was charged on Thursday with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily impairment. He’s being held ona $100,000 bond. His next court date is pending.
