Local Polka Legend “Big Daddy” Dies

(WWJ/MNN) Sad news in the world of polka music.

Marshall Lackowski, better known by his stage name of “Big Daddy,” died this past weekend of congestive heart failure. The Detroit Free Press reports he began his music career in the 1950s with his brothers. Big Daddy was from Huron County in Michigan’s Thumb region. He famously toured with his band the “La Dee Das.”

“Big Daddy” Marshall Lackowski was 85.
