Lafayette Bridge Demolition Set to Commence in December

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has set a date to begin the demolition of the Lafayette Street Bridge in Bay City.

The work will start December 2 and is expected to last about 30 months, with construction of a new bridge wrapping up around June 2027. Detours will be posted during the work, and bus tickets will be made available for those walk across the bridge to get across the Saginaw River.

An open house will be held by MDOT on November 12 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Boys and Girls Club at 300 West Lafayette Avenue to discuss the project with the public.
