Kayakers Okay After Rescue Off Charity Island

Two kayakers needed rescuing from the Saginaw Bay on Tuesday.
Officials with the Coast Guard Station Detroit were sent to an area near Charity Island, due east of Au Gres in Arenac County, after receiving a report the kayakers were overdue. The Coast Guard deployed a rescue helicopter to search the shoreline.
The kayakers were taken to Wurstmith Air Base in Oscoda where they were checked by medical personnel and found to be medically stable.
