Isabella County Sheriff’s Department Out of Gas Money

What happens when a police department has no money for gasoline?

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Department recently announced over Facebook it has exhausted its fuel budget for the year. With the price of gasoline more than five dollars per gallong in many areas of the state and inflation rising, the department will need to wait several more months until the county budget resets.

In the post, Sheriff Michael Main stated calls which are non-life-threatening, those that do not require deputies to collect evidence or documentation and those that are not crimes in-progress would be handled by phone. Any calls with active suspects will have deputies respond to the scene.

Main says the department will continue to respond to those calls as their primary goal is the safety of the community.
