Bay City Commissioners adopted a resolution Monday, July 15 authorizing a notice of intent to issue $5 million in bonds to pay for construction of water supply system improvements, including replacing lead pipes.

The state is putting pressure on many communities to make similar upgrades.

The Commission also designated Bay City based Affordable Concrete Contracting to handle sidewalk replacement work for both the 2020 and 2021 fiscal years. Commissioners chose Affordable, the second low bidder at roughly $3,000 more than Rodney Woods Builder for 2021 due in part to concerns over pending litigation against the Saginaw based company. Costs for both years will be capped at $300,000.
