Huron County Carjacking Suspect Arrested in Indiana

The suspect in a Huron County carjacking has been arrested in Indiana. Huron County deputies responded about 7:00 Thursday night to USA High School in Sebewaing Township, where an 18-year-old woman told deputies a man had gotten into her vehicle with a knife. The woman said she ran from the vehicle and the suspect drove off in her 2015 Chevrolet Equinox.

Deputies found a pickup truck in the school parking lot that had been stolen from Mason County. The suspect was a known Mason County man in his twenties. Police thought the suspect might be headed to Florida and under the influence of drugs, but Friday morning, Indiana State Police contacted Huron County authorities about the stolen Equinox. They said they had stopped the driver, who had a knife and was threatening suicide. He was later arrested.

The Huron County Sheriff’s office said the suspect was also wanted for an armed robbery in the Muskegon area overnight.
