Hurley Pediatric At Capacity With RSV Cases

Hurley Medical Center in Flint is swamped with RSV cases in children.

The hospital says it’s currently at capacity in its pediatric care unit as a rise in RSV has brought an influx of patients. The hospital is also receiving patient transfers from other hospitals which aren’t as well equipped to deal with the virus.

Hospital officials remind parents to makes sure their kids use proper hand washing techniques to help prevent the spread of RSV and other inllnesses. They say while they aren’t turning any patients away, parents should first contact their pediatrician for care directions if their child experiences symptoms before heading to an emergency department unless it is a life threatening emergency.
