Girl Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle

A six-year-old who was struck by a vehicle in Mount Morris Tuesday died at the hospital.

Police say the incident occurred around 5:15 P.M. in front of the Morris Square Apartments on Saginaw Street when a black SUV came to a full stop at the entrance to the apartment complex before turning north onto the street. Police say the girl was walking with a trusted mentor and stepped in front of the vehicle before she could be stopped, becoming trapped underneath. She was taken to Hurley Medical center in Flint and died just a few hours later from her injuries.

Police say the driver of the SUV is cooperating with them in the invesitgation.
