Genesee County Slated to Receive First State Park

The state of Michigan is providing $26.2 million to Genesee County and the city of Flint to build the county’s first state park.

The 60 acre park will be located at the old Chevy Commons property along the Flint River. Currently the site is only in the planning stages. Some of the park’s amenities may include recreation trails, canoe launches, an outdoor amphitheater and fishing platforms.

Funding for the new park is provided through the recently signed Building Michigan Together plan, a $4.8 billion investment into the state’s future. $250 million of that is earmarked for state park facilities.
