12 people from all walks of life were arrested recently in a human trafficking sting in Genesee County.

The Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team (GHOST) made the arrests based on an ongoing investigation. Earlier this year, GHOST arrested 22 people in a massive human trafficking bust.

The most recent arrests include a former Tuscola County sheriff’s deputy, and Army National Guard member and a non profit finance director. Each of the suspects are charged with multiple felonies, including child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime against a child and accosting a child for immoral purposes.

An attorney representing three of the suspects say the arrests were based on illegal police entrapment.
