The county clerk in Genesee County resigned after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge Tuesday.
John Gleason was charged with witness bribing and interfering, willful neglect of duty, and marrying a couple without a marriage license. He pleaded guilty to marrying a couple without a license. The witness bribing and interfering charge is a felony and could have landed him in jail for up to four years.
The charges were filed in 2019 and he was prosecuted in Tuscola County.
