Frankenmuth Flood Plan Under Discussion Wednesday

The City of Frankenmuth is hosting a public meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers Wednesday, September 28 6:00 P.M.

The meeting will provide a review of the Frankenmuth Levee Improvements, which are the City’s emergency response plan as it relates to river flooding and how that impacts the City and then there will be a flood fighting demonstration. Those improvements were complete last year. The City’s flood response plan will include closing Main Street/M-83 and evacuating the downtown area subject to flooding when the river reaches a certain height. The Levee System has been engineered and constructed to provide a high level of protection but in extreme weather conditions the City’s number one priority is ensuring public safety.

The meeting will be held at the Public Safety Training Room, adjacent to the City Township Governmental Center at 240 West Genesee. Please RSVP to Amanda Weiss at a-weiss at frankenmuth city dot com or call 989-652-9901.
