Former Bay County Sheriff John Miller is remembered as a mentor to new deputies. Miller, who died Wednesday, October 2nd, served five terms as sheriff from 1967 until 2017.

The 68-year-old Miller joined the Bay County Sheriff Department, as a road patrol deputy in 1974, after serving in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps, with a tour in Vietnam.

Funeral services for Miller will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 7th,  at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel in Kawkawlin. Pastor John Combs will officiate at the service. There will be a visitation at the Rivertown Funeral Chapel from 1:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 6th.
