Flood Bankruptcy Filing Deadline Extended

Home and business owners affected by the May flood due to the failures of the Edenville and Sanford Dam who haven’t filed their Proof of Claim yet have a little extra leeway.

While the deadline for the Notice of Claim against the state agencies responsible for the mid-Michigan flooding has passed, the November 30 deadline to file a Proof of Claim in bankruptcy court has been adjourned until December. This means home and business owners now have until December 15 to file a Proof of Claim.

If the homeowner or business owner has an attorney, they do not have to sign this document. However, failure to file the Proof of Claim by the deadline will prevent them from receiving any monies from the debtors.
