Flint Woman Charged In Three-Year-Old Son’s Death

A Flint woman is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $1 million bond for allegedly causing the death of her own child.
Police began an investigation into the death of three year old Zaveion after receving a call about an unresponsive child in the 100 block of Perry Place April 25. Police say 27-year-old Latonya Thomas was trying to perfom CPR on the boy when they arrived on the scene. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to a medical examinier’s report, the child suffered injuries consistent with an assault.
Thomas was arrested and is charged in Oakland County last week with felony murder charges and first degree child abuse. Her next court date is June 25.
