A Genesee County judge sentenced a 20-year-old Flint man to probation and jail time served for crashing into a picketing line of GM workers on September 26.
Malachi Hittle worked as a housecleaning contractor at the Flint Processing Plant in Swartz Creek. At the end of his shift as he was preparing to leave the facility in his vehicle, he drove through the line of striking workers, causing minor injuries to five people, and left the scene. He was initially charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, though prosecutors dropped that charge in exchange for a guilty plea to failing to stop at the scene of a crime.
Hittle is also required to undergo a mental health evaluation.
