Flint Man Sentenced to Probation for Animal Neglect
A Flint man was sentenced to 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to killing or torturing an animal.
53-year-old Anthony Jackson was charged in September after authorities discovered his two bull mastiffs, named Mama Blue and Papa Black had severe infections in their paws as a result of neglect. According to police, Jackson ignored the advice of a veterinarian who recommended treatment for the dogs’ foot conditions. In 2022, Jackson’s home burned down and the dogs were left chained up at the property for over a year.
By the time the dogs were rescued, police say their condition was so bad that both dogs had to be euthanized. With the guilty plea, one count of killing or torture of an animal was dropped. In addition to the probation, Jackson has been ordered pay $4,500.
