Firefighter Suffers Serious Injuries Battling Fire In Chesaning
A fire at a commercial business in Chesaning that injured a firefighter is under investigation.
Crews from the Tri-Township Fire Department responded to Dad’s Country Corner auto sales at 721 West Broad Street around 1:30 p.m. for a storage barn fire. While on the scene, Captain Zachery Theile suffered undisclosed, serious injuries. First responders on the scene provided immediate aid before he was taken by ambulance to the trauma center at Covenant Healthcare.
Theile was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon and is resting at home with his family, according to officials. He will not be able to return to work for a while as he recovers from his injuries. While insurance is helping with the cost of his treatment, a Go Fund Me page has been set up to help his family get through the Christmas holiday and to help with expenses.
