Firefighter In Hit And Run Crash Released from Hospital

The Monitor Township firefighter who was struck in a hit and run crash Monday morning has been sent home from the hospital.

According to a Facebook post by the fire department, Jeff Sargeson is recovering at home after the incident. Around 2:00 A.M., the department had responded to several crashes along US-10 near I-75 due to slippery road conditions. Sargeson went to assist a vehicle off the road on the east bound side when he was struck by a blue, 2019 Chevy Colorado. Investigators say the truck should have heavy front end damage. Sargeson received severe injuries in the crash. He has been with the department for 15 years.
