Fiery Isabella County Crash with School Bus Kills Woman

A woman was killed in a crash between a car and a school bus in Isabella County Thursday, October 24.

Police say the car was heading south on Coldwater Rd. near River Rd. in Broomfield Township around 9:00 p.m. when it crossed the center line, striking the bus head on. The car sustained heavy damage and caught fire, which spread to the bus. The woman was the only occupant of the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The bus, from Chippewa Hills, was carrying the Junior Varsity football team, coaches and staff. Two students were hospitalized. Others on the bus suffered minor, non-life threatening injuries.

The occupants of the bus were transferred to another bus and picked up by their parents at a nearby business.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
