Father of Boy Who Died of Overdose Sentenced to Prison

A Shiawassee County man was sentenced to prison last week for the overdose death of his infant son.
On February 5, 2022, 47-year-old David Bannister and his girlfriend, 41-year-old Jennifer Kincaid caused the death of one of the couple’s infant twin sons, one-year-old David Bannister, Jr., who medical examiners say died from an acute fentanyl overdose. Narcotics and firearms were found in the home.
Bannister pleaded guilty to the charges in March. He will spend up to 50 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. Kincaid was sentenced last month to up to 30 years in prison on the same charges.
