EF-1 Tornado Confirmed In Clare County

A tornado was confirmed to have touched down in Clare County last Friday.

The National Weather Sevice says the tornado was an EF-1 with a top wind speed of around 95 miles an hour and a width of around 75 yards. No one was hurt in the incident.

The tornado touched down at 4:57 P.M., traveling about 12 miles across Lake George and continued east along/near Cedar Road and continued on to the east/northeast crossing US-127 and ending just south of the intersection of East Gladwin Road and South Rodgers Avenue. It remained on the ground for about 34 minutes.

According to the National Weather Service, damage included boats flipped on Lake George as well as hundreds of trees downed along the path, including some trees falling onto homes.
