Duck Hunters Okay After Waves Swamp Boat in Huron County

A couple of duck hunters needed rescuing after their boat got swamped on Wildfowl Bay in Huron County’s McKinly Township Thursday.

Around 10:00 A.M., a hunter called Huron County Central Dispatch to report their boat had taken on several waves. The hunters, a 64-year-old Fenton man and a 31-year-old Kalamazoo man, were about two miles from shore, northwest of Bay Port. The boat was partially submerged. Police say they were wearing life jackets.

Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters were able to retrieve the hunters and their boat. The men were evaluated by medical personnel but refused further treatment.
