The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw has a new tool to streamline care for newborns, thanks to a more than $66,000 donation from Ronald McDonald House Charities and Frankenmuth Auto Fest. The donation paid for the purchase of ECG monitors, which help health care personnel monitor vitals like heart rate and blood pressure more easily.

Ronald McDonald House Charities raise money through the collection boxes you see at McDonalds restaurants. Two area franchisees, Tony D’Anna and Shawn Saputo, were on hand for the presentation. They said the pennies, dimes and quarters you drop in those boxes amount to $650,000 a year raised at McDonalds restaurants from Flint north. All of the money goes to health care systems and charities to benefit sick children and their families.
