Deford Woman Accused of Embezzling Money from Grandmother

A Tuscola County woman faces felony charges after allegedly embezzling more than $1,000 from her grandmother.
According to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, 29-year-old Brittany Guilfoil of Defordallegedly forged checks from her grandmother’s checking account payable to herself and her husband. Guilfoil’s grandmother is a resident at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Prosecutors say the suspect’s brother discovered the fraudulent checks when he was made his grandmother’s conservator last year.
Guilfoil has been charged with Embezzlement from a Vulnerable Adult between $1,00-20,000 and one count of Uttering and Publishing.
